PHOENIX, July 11, 2007 (AP) -- Becky Hammon scored 10 of her 18 points in the fourth quarter in her return from a sprained foot, lifting the San Antonio Silver Stars past the Phoenix Mercury 87-77 on Wednesday.
Sophia Young scored 26 points and had 12 rebounds to lead the Silver Stars (12-6), who have won four straight and eight of 10 after starting the season 4-4.
Hammon hit a pair of 3-pointers and had eight points in a 10-2 run early in the fourth quarter after Phoenix pulled to 63-59 with 8:53 remaining.
Hammon, who missed three games, entered as the league's fourth leading scorer at 19.1 points per game and leads the league with 5.4 assists.
Camille Little added 12 points and six rebounds for the Silver Stars, who shot 49 percent from the field. Phoenix shot 37 percent and only 4-of-21 from beyond the arc.
Young's jumper gave San Antonio a 23-22 lead with 7:32 left in the second quarter, and the Silver Stars never trailed again.
Tangela Smith added 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Mercury.
Erin Buescher, who had filled in for Hammon, injured her left knee in the first minute and did not return.
