MINNEAPOLIS, August 6 (Ticker) -- Seimone Augustus has provided a silver
lining in what has been a difficult season for the Minnesota
Lynx.
Augustus scored 26 points as the Lynx snapped a six-game losing
streak with an 82-68 victory over the San Antonio Silver Stars.
Svetlana Abrosimova contributed 13 points and Nicole Ohlde added
11 and 10 rebounds for Minnesota (9-22), which won three of the
four meetings with San Antonio (12-19) this season.
In a matchup of the two worst teams in the Western Conference,
the Lynx broke open the game by outscoring the Silver Stars,
27-11, in the second quarter. Augustus scored six points in the
period for Minnesota, which made 11-of-17 shots in the session.
Augustus connected on 12-of-19 shots from the field, including
both of her 3-point attempts. The rookie sensation added four
rebounds, two assists and a pair of steals in 33 minutes.
Sophia Young scored 23 points and Jae Kingi-Cross chipped in 10
for San Antonio, which shot just 31 percent (22-of-71) in losing
its fifth straight game.
