Farris Shines Again vs. Lynx; Liberty Win Third Straight
NEW YORK, July 30 (Ticker) -- Barbara Farris did it again to the Minnesota Lynx.
Farris and Shameka Christon each scored 20 points as the New York Liberty extended their season-high winning streak to three games with a 78-69 triumph over the Lynx, who couldn't capitalize on a huge performance by All-Star Seimone Augustus.
Augustus scored a season-high 32 points for the fourth time this season, including a 17-point outburst in the third quarter that helped Minnesota pull within 56-55 entering the final period.
But the Liberty opened the fourth quarter with a commanding 11-2 surge capped by Christon's three-point play with 4:54 remaining. New York built a 67-57 advantage and never was challenged thereafter.
Loree Moore scored 12 points and rookie Sherill Baker added 10 for New York, which shot 44 percent (27-of-61) from the field.
Rookie Megan Duffy scored 13 points off the bench for the Lynx, who shot just 33 percent (21-of-63) and dropped their third consecutive game.
