Sam Leads Sting Past Storm For Fourth Straight Win
CHARLOTTE, N.C., July 20 (Ticker) -- Sheri Sam is helping the Charlotte Sting recover from an awful start to their campaign.
Sam scored 23 points to help the Sting post their fourth straight victory, an 86-72 triumph over the Seattle Storm.
Sam, who scored 15 points in a 73-67 triumph over the Detroit Shock on Wednesday, made 8-of-17 shots for the Sting, who lost 16 of their first 19 games this season before their current winning streak - their longest in more than two years.
Charlotte held just a 64-59 lead before Kelly Mazzante nailed back-to-back 3-pointers to trigger a 10-0 run midway through in the fourth quarter that put away the game.
Sue Bird scored 19 points and Betty Lennox added 13 and 10 rebounds for the Storm, who lost for the fourth time in five games. Lauren Jackson had 11 points in her return from a left foot injury.
