SAN ANTONIO, June 16 (Ticker) -- With rookie sensation Seimone Augustus
in the arena, Shannon Johnson stole the show.
Johnson scored 16 of her career-high 21 points in a huge
first quarter, as the San Antonio Silver Stars picked up their
first home win of the season, a 90-60 triumph over the Minnesota
Lynx.
Sparked by Johnson, the Silver Stars used a 20-2 run to end the
first quarter, which ended with them holding a commanding 32-8
lead. Minnesota shot just 21 percent (4-of-19) in the quarter
and never was able to recover.
Agnieszka Bibrzycka added a career-high 20 points off the bench
and Vickie Johnson contributed 12 for the Silver Stars, who had
been 0-4 at home this season and dropped 10 straight at the AT&T Center
dating to last season.
Katie Feenstra grabbed a season-high nine rebounds for San
Antonio.
Vanessa Hayden, Tynesha Lewis and Svetlana Abrosimova scored 10
points apiece for Minnesota, which fell to 1-4 away from the
Target Center.
Augustus had the worst game of her young career, scoring seven
points on 2-of-14 shooting.
