MINNEAPOLIS, June 14 (Ticker) -- The balanced attack of the Seattle
Storm overcame an outstanding effort by rookie Seimone Augustus.
Betty Lennox paced three players in double figures with 15
points as the Storm overcame a 32-point eruption from Augustus
for a 74-66 victory.
Janell Burse scored 14 points and Tiffani Johnson added 13 for
Seattle, which overcame sub-par scoring efforts by Lauren Jackson and Sue Bird.
Augustus connected on 13-of-26 from the field, but her teammates
combined to hit just 14 shots in 35 attempts. She was 4-of-5
from the line and added a pair of 3-pointers and three rebounds.
Jackson was held to eight points on 3-of-8 shooting but helped
out with seven rebounds. Bird was 4-of-10 from the floor for
nine points but ran the offense effectively, handing out eight
assists for the Storm, which improved to 1-2 on their current
five-game road trip.
The Lynx failed to win a third straight game for the first time
since June 4-15, 2005.
