MINNEAPOLIS, May 23 (Ticker) -- Katie Douglas and the Connecticut Sun spoiled rookie Seimone Augustus' home debut.

Douglas scored 28 points as the Sun pulled away late to post a 81-69 victory over the Minnesota Lynx.

Augustus, the No. 1 overall pick in April's draft, finished with 21 points and five rebounds, but the Lynx went cold down the stretch in their season opener.

Trailing, 61-56, at the 8:42 mark, Connecticut went on a 11-0 run thanks to six points from Erin Phillips to take control of the contest.

Phillips and Nykesha Sales had 13 points apiece for the Sun, who outscored the Lynx, 26-10 in the closing period.

Nicole Ohlde scored 10 points for Minnesota, which shot just 37 percent (27-of-74) overall.
