INDIANAPOLIS, July 15 (Ticker) -- All-Star Tamika Catchings collected 20 points, a career-high 14 rebounds and five assists as the Indiana Fever posted a 62-57 victory over the Detroit Shock in the opener of a home-and-home series.

Catchings made just 4-of-11 shots from the floor but connected on all but two of her 14 free throws and managed to control the boards, despite battling All-Star Ruth Riley and Cheryl Ford in the low post.

Indiana never led by more than seven points in the second half with Detroit getting as close as one point on a few occasions. However, the Fever overcame a 35 percent (19-of-55) shooting performance by hitting 24-of-31 from the line.

Jurgita Streimikyte added 13 points for the Fever, who beat the Shock for the fourth straight time.

All-Star Deanna Nolan scored 19 points and Sheila Lambert added 13 for the Shock, who lost for the eighth time in their last 10 contests.

The teams will meet again Sunday in Detroit.
