PHOENIX, July 6 (Ticker) -- Anna DeForge and Penny Taylor gave the Phoenix Mercury a rare winning streak.

DeForge and Taylor led a second-half surge as the Mercury won consecutive games for the first time this season, posting a 73-61 victory over the Seattle Storm.

After a tight first 20 minutes, the Mercury used a 21-2 run to turn to a one-point deficit into a 58-40 lead with 10:16 remaining. DeForge scored nine points and Taylor added seven in the burst.

Taylor finished with 17 points and DeForge 15 for the Mercury, who have won consecutive games for the first time since a four-game run last September.

Phoenix shot just 35 percent (24-of-68) but got it done defensively as it recorded a franchise-record 12 blocks. Every player except Belinda Snell had at least one block.

Betty Lennox had 17 points and 11 rebounds and Sue Bird added 16 for struggling Seattle, which lost for the fifth time in six games.
