INDIANAPOLIS, May 22 (Ticker) -- Deanna Jackson came off the bench to score 12 points and lead the Indiana Fever to a season-opening victory, a 68-58 triumph over the Charlotte Sting.

Jackson, who joined the Fever last year after two seasons with the Cleveland Rockers, made 4-of-5 shots and helped spark a 16-6 run in the final 5:14.

Jugita Streimiktye scored 10 points and Natalie Williams had eight along with 10 rebounds for the Fever, who have won eight of 10 home meetings against Charlotte.

Indiana, which lost its final four games to miss the playoffs last season, won its third season opener in the past four years.

The Fever shot 41 percent (25-of-61) from the floor and forced 16 turnovers to beat the Sting for the second time in six contests.

After a 16-point outing in Saturday's loss to the Washington Mystics, Sheri Sam made 6-of-14 shots to score 13 points. Dawn Staley added 10 and Tammy Sutton-Brown grabbed nine rebounds for Charlotte (0-2).
