NEW YORK, Sept. 10 (Ticker) -- For the second time in a week, the Connecticut Sun held the New York Liberty in check.

Lindsay Whalen poured in a career-high 21 points on 8-for-9 shooting, leading the Sun to a 77-66 victory over the Liberty at Radio City Music Hall.

Connecticut (15-15) used a 17-2 run over a seven-minute stretch of the first half to open a 42-31 lead. The Sun shot nearly 60 percent in the opening 20 minutes.

New York (14-15) was able to cut the deficit to 52-51 with 13:29 remaining, but the Sun answered with a 9-2 run and cruised thereafter.

In a victory over New York on Sept. 3, the Sun held the Liberty to a season-low 43 points.

Nykesha Sales scored 19 points for Connecticut, while Katie Douglas and Taj McWilliams-Franklin each added 10.

Becky Hammon netted 17 points for the Liberty, who lost for the first time in four games at Radio City.

Crystal Robinson chipped in with 16, becoming the second player in Liberty history, along with Vickie Johnson, to reach 2,000 career points.
