MINNEAPOLIS, June 30 (Ticker) -- Katie Smith scored six of her 23 points in overtime, when the Minnesota Lynx shut out the Houston Comets and rolled to a 58-50 victory.

A basket by Helen Darling- her only hoop of the game - came 20 seconds into overtime and gave Minnesota the lead for good. Smith added a layup for a 54-50 lead at the 1:37 mark and sank four free throws in the final 36 seconds.

The Comets missed all eight of their shots in the extra session and fell to 1-1 in overtime.

Houston held a 49-46 lead before Nicole Ohlde made a layup with 14 seconds to play in regulation. Dominique Canty split a pair of free throws before Smith forced overtime with a driving layup with 5.1 seconds left.

Smith scored 20 points after halftime. Ohlde added 15 points and Teresa Edwards nine for the Lynx, who shot just 34 percent (21-of-62) from the field and won for just the second time in the last eight games.

Lucienne Berthieu scored 11 points but Sheryl Swoopes was held to nine on 4-of-14 shooting for the Comets, who shot 32 percent (20-of-62). Michelle Snow grabbed 15 rebounds.
