PHOENIX, Aug. 6 (Ticker) -- Anna DeForge scored 15 points to lead the Phoenix Mercury to a 56-49 victory over the Minnesota Lynx and a split of their home-and-home series.

DeForge scored five points in a 15-4 run as the Mercury took control of the game over a span of nearly 10 minutes down the stretch. Plenette Pierson capped the surge with a jumper with 3:42 left that made it 51-45, and Phoenix never looked back.

DeForge made 5-of-11 shots, including the Mercury's only 3-pointer. She also had seven rebounds and four assists.

Adrian Williams added 14 points and seven rebounds for the Mercury, which won despite shooting just 34.5 percent (19-of-55) from the field.

Minnesota opened a 41-36 lead on Katie Smith's 3-pointer with 13:28 left, but Smith made just 4-of-15 shots and could not spark the Lynx the rest of the way.

Tamika Williams led the Lynx with 12 points and Janell Burse added 11 and nine rebounds. Minnesota shot 36 percent (19-of-53) and committed 20 turnovers.
