Comets Cruise Past Monarchs in Win
HOUSTON, Aug. 5 (Ticker) -- Tina Thompson scored 12 of her 18 points in the first half as the Houston Comets rolled to a 74-47 rout of the cold-shooting Sacramento Monarchs.
The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for Sacramento, which shot just 31 percent (20-of-64) from the field and failed to place a player in double figures.
Edna Campbell and Demya Walker paced the Monarchs with nine points apiece.
The Comets never trailed after the Monarchs scored the first basket of the game, extending their home winning streak to eight games. They have won all three meetings with Sacramento this season.
Janeth Arcain scored 16 points and Sheryl Swoopes added 10 for Houston.
