Beverly Pitts

Dr. Pitts has announced her final year as president of the University of Indianapolis, a position she has held since July 2005. She will retire in June 2012, capping a distinguished career as a communications scholar and university administrator. As president, she oversees an institution with 5,250 students, including a branch campus in Athens, Greece, and doctoral programs in occupational therapy, physical therapy, and clinical psychology. Before joining the University of Indianapolis, she was Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Ball State University where she also served as Acting President.

She currently serves on the Education Roundtable, the Council on Adult and Experiential Learning, the Professional Athletes Foundation, United Way of Central Indiana, The Mind Trust Board, Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, Community Hospitals of Indiana Board, the Skyline Club, and the advisory board of Indianapolis Woman magazine. She is a former chair of the Indiana Humanities Council and former national president of the National Association for General and Liberal Studies. She also served on the NCAA Division II Presidents Council.
