Game Preview: Fever vs Monarchs

The Indiana Fever (19-5) starts a two-game West Coast swing against the Sacramento Monarchs (7-18) (10:00 p.m. ET, WIBC 93.1 FM, WNBA LiveAccess). A Fever victory will clinch Indiana's fifth consecutive appearance in the WNBA Playoffs!

Indiana’s Last Outing (August 15, 2009):
The Fever rebounded from a 14-point first half deficit to defeat the Detroit Shock, 82-59. Tough Fever defense held all five Shock starters below double digit scoring. Rookie Briann January had a career-high 17 points for the Fever. Katie Douglas continued her offensive hot streak, leading all scorers with 19 points.

Sacramento’s Last Outing (August 13, 2009):
The Monarchs were unable to beat the Los Angeles Sparks twice in two days, losing 78-61. The Sparks were led by Candace Parker and her 18 points and seven rebounds. Monarchs center Rebekkah Brunson had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Last Meeting (July 26, 2008):
The Monarchs matched a franchise-record seven straight wins with the 70-62 victory over the Fever. Katie Douglas scored 23 points for the Fever on 9-for-17 shooting. Brunson scored 15 points to go along with 10 rebounds.

Stats and Trends:

  • Tamika Catchings became the youngest and quickest player in WNBA history to record 600 steals in a career, with four against the Detroit Shock last Saturday.

  • Katie Douglas has scored in double figures in eight straight games, averaging 23.1 points in those games.
