Fever vs Storm Scouting Report

By Josh Taylor | Updated 5/10/08
The Fever hits the road to take on the Seattle Storm for each team’s final preseason game. Not making the trip for the Fever are point guard Tully Bevilaqua who is recovering from a busy overseas schedule (six games in eight days in Beijing); and rookie Khadijah Whittington who will be attending her graduation ceremony at North Carolina State. For the Storm, reigning MVP Lauren Jackson will not be play, either.

With the Storm carrying 18 players on its roster and Indiana carrying 17, the final preseason game may signal the last chance for players to secure spots on regular season rosters. Seattle was arguably even busier than the Fever since the close of last season having added veterans Swin Cash, Sheryl Swoopes and Yolanda Griffith. Their presence should help balance the absence of center Janelle Burse who announced on Tuesday that she will sit out the 2008 WNBA season.

Indiana’s last outing: Indiana (0-2) committed 29 turnovers to a physical Minnesota Lynx (2-0) squad at Conseco Fieldhouse. The Fever was led by guard Tan White who scored a team-high 16 points in the 78-64 loss. Constance Jinks and Kasha Terry each added 15 points for the Fever who were outscored 28 to 12 in the third quarter.

Seattle’s last outing: Seattle (0-2) lost, 70-68, in Sacramento (1-1) despite having four players score at least 11 points. Griffith, the 1999 WNBA MVP, put up 12 points in 28 minutes against her former team. Swin Cash scored a team-high 17 points on 8-of-19 shooting.

Previous meeting (July 27, 2007): The Storm handed the Fever its fifth straight loss in the absence of Tamika Catchings with an, 89-75, victory at Seattle. The Fever trailed by as many as 35 as Seattle’s Lauren Jackson poured in 27 points to lead all scorers.

Stats and Trends:

  • Kasha Terry is the Fever’s leading scorer through two preseason games with 27 points.
  • Fever opponents are shooting a blistering 56% (9-16) from downtown.
  • Alison Bales had four blocked shots in the loss to Minnesota.
