Storylines & Promotions

• The Fever is looking for the first WNBA title in franchise history. Indiana defeated Minnesota in Game 3 on Friday, 76-59, to lead the best-of-five series 2-1.

• A Fever victory in Game 4 on Sunday would mark the first professional basketball championship for the city of Indianapolis since 1973 when the Indiana Pacers won an ABA title.

• Indiana has been in this situation once before, winning Game 3 to take a 2-1 lead over Phoenix in the 2009 WNBA Finals, before dropping Games 4 and 5 to the Mercury.
• Indiana held the Lynx to just 27 points in the first half on Friday. The Fever’s defense also kept each of the Lynx’ three Olympians – Maya Moore, Seimone Augustus and Lindsey Whalen – from scoring in double figures.

• The Fever is trying to become the first Eastern Conference team to win a WNBA championship since 2008 when the Detroit Shock defeated San Antonio. In fact, the Fever is the only team from the East to even win a Finals game since 2008. The Fever is 4-4 in two Finals appearances since 2009. The rest of the East (Atlanta) is 0-6 the past two seasons.

• Shavonte Zellous scored a career-high 30 points in Game 3, which is the most scored by any Indiana player in the 2012 playoffs. Zellous’ 30 points matched the franchise scoring record for points in a Finals game, tying Katie Douglas’ 30 points in Game 1 of the 2009 Finals.

• Indiana played with only nine players on Friday. Katie Douglas remains day-to-day with a sprained left ankle and Jeanette Pohlen suffered a torn ACL in the second quarter of Game 2 and is out for the remainder of the series.
