INDIANA FEVER OPENS TRAINING CAMP SUNDAY AFTERNOON

Atkinson Signing Completes Training Camp Roster

INDIANAPOLIS � The Indiana Fever has signed La'Tangela Atkinson to a training camp contract and finalized its preseason roster. Training camp tips off the start of the 2012 season on Sunday, April 29.

Atkinson, ironically, was the Fever's first-round draft pick (ninth overall) in 2006. After a trade to Sacramento, she spent two seasons with the Monarchs and part of the 2009 campaign with the Seattle Storm. She was waived in 2010 training camp with the Washington Mystics and has played overseas in Sweden the past two winters.

The Fever, which has advanced to the WNBA Playoffs in seven straight seasons, opens camp this weekend with the rest of the WNBA as the league prepares for its 16th season. The Fever will stage its first practice on Sunday at 2:00 p.m., with a preseason game scheduled just six days later, Saturday, May 5, at San Antonio. The Silver Stars visit Bankers Life Fieldhouse for a preseason finale between the two clubs on Wednesday, May 9 at Noon. The preseason home date is billed as Education Day featuring Choices for Champions. A Choices for Champions educational program begins at 10:00 a.m.

The roster will be trimmed to 11 players on May 18, prior to the Fever opening its 13th season when it hosts an Eastern Conference Finals rematch with the Atlanta Dream on Saturday, May 19 (7:00 p.m.).
