Championship Celebration and Ring Ceremony Presented By Herff Jones Highlights Evening of Festivities

INDIANAPOLIS – An evening filled with celebration of the Indiana Fever’s 2012 WNBA championship is planned when the Fever hosts its home opener to the 2013 season, Friday evening against the Atlanta Dream.

Arena doors open at 5:30 p.m., with every fan entering the game receiving a replica of the same championship ring the 2012 champions will be presented in an official ceremony which begins at 6:40 p.m. Fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 6:30 p.m.

The Championship Celebration and Ring Ceremony presented by Herff Jones features the raising of the team’s 2012 WNBA championship banner. Replica championship rings for fans are courtesy of Kroger. For those who wish to purchase additional replica rings, limited quantities will be available in the Home Court Gift Shop following tipoff.

WNBA President Laurel Richie will be on hand for the festivities, helping to honor the 2012 champions by presenting rings to Kelly Krauskopf, president and general manager of the Fever and to Fever coaches and players. Richie also will participate in a Chalk Talk presented by Old National Bank, with season ticket holders in the Locker Room Restaurant, beginning at 6:20 p.m.

Fans will be tantalized at halftime by “the couple that never has trouble finding something to wear,” as the amazing world-renowned performers known as Quick Change take center court.

The Fever, 1-0 in 2013 after a season-opening win at San Antonio last Friday, hosts the Dream in a rematch of playoff battles in 2011 and 2012. Either the Fever or the Dream has represented the Eastern Conference in the WNBA Finals in each of the past four seasons.

A WNBA playoff participant in eight straight seasons and nine times since 2002, the Indiana Fever became the champion of women’s professional basketball after defeating the Minnesota Lynx for the 2012 WNBA Championship. The Fever is the only team in WNBA history to record seven 20-win seasons during an 8-year span, a current streak that dates to 2005. During that time, the Fever has reached at least the Eastern Conference Finals five times while appearing in the WNBA Finals in 2009 and 2012.
