January 24, 2014: Layshia Clarendon has returned to the U.S. to rehab her back. She will workout at the University of California, her alma mater, until WNBA training camp begins.
January 23, 2014: To date, USK Praha is a combined 29-2 between its domestic league in the Czech Republic (23-0) and Group C action in EuroLeague competition (6-2). Both losses have come at the hands of Spartak MR, most recently a 67-66 setback at home just this week.
Clarendon, in her first professional season overseas, is averaging 18.4 minutes per game during 12 games of an unbeaten run through the Czech domestic circuit. She averages 11.3 minutes through six EuroLeague contests.
Her best game statistically was a 14-point, 7-rebound effort as part of an 82-46 win over DSK Karlin, in which she played 22 minutes. Her best outing in Euro competition was against Fever teammate Shavonte Zellous when she scored eight points with three rebounds as USK Praha downed Turkish power Galatasaray 67-63. A Group C rematch is February 5.
November 13, 2013: Clarendon’s career has yet to encounter a loss outside of the United States. Though she is scoreless with a combined 14 minutes in two EuroLeague victories, the rookie averages 5.2 points, 2.5 assists and 16.3 minutes per game through six wins in the Czech domestic league. She recently scored 10 points in a 102-45 domestic win over Slovanka MB on Nov. 9 – all six Czech victories by USK have been by wide margins.
Clarendon and USK Prague scored another big win earlier today (Nov. 13), getting past Spartak Moscow Region (Russia) in a EuroLeague contest that drew attention in Europe by ending Spartak’s 15-game home winning streak.
October 23, 2013: Clarendon made her overseas debut last week, scoring five points with four assists for USK Praha in Czech Republic. USK downed BLK Praha 86-43 to run its record to 9-0 to stay atop the Czech league which began in September.
