Dunn Named to Hall of Fame
Indiana Fever coach Lin Dunn was named to the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2014. The honor was announced during the WNBA All-Star Game on Saturday, July 27. Dunn will be inducted on June 14, 2014 in Knoxville, Tenn.
On Friday at the All-Star media day, Dunn was asked about what it means to her to be inducted in to the Women's Basketball Hall of Hame.
"Well you know it's overwhelming, it's humbling it's a tremendous honor. I know some of my colleagues and peers that are already in the basketball hall of fame and to be able to join them is a wonderful moment for me.
"When I found out I immediately thought of my mother and how excited she would be. She's always been my favorite fan. I lost her last year. She'll be smiling down proudly for me. It's my 43rd year of coaching, so I can look back and say I'm excited to be a part of the history of the growth of women's basketball collegiately and professional. It's a unique moment for me."
Joining Dunn in the Hall of Fame are former WNBA players Yolanda Griffith and Michelle Edwards, former University of Maryland and Yugoslavian star Jasmina Perazik, and women's basketball contributors Mimi Griffin and Charlotte West.
