April 10, 2013: Katie Douglas and Dynamo Kursk open their Russian semifinal series this weekend against top-seeded UMMC Ekaterinburg. Kursk was the league’s No. 5 seed entering the playoffs but managed a 2-0 sweep of No. 4 Dynamo Moscow in the quarterfinals. Douglas has played just four games for Kursk since arriving in Russia late in March. She averages 10.0 points and 3.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 8-of-15 from 3-point range.
April 2, 2013: Cleared to play after her ankle injury last October, Douglas has arrived in Russia where she played her first two games last week for Dynamo Kursk. Kursk is currently 11-7 and in fifth place in Russian League standings after a pair of narrow losses last week. In an 87-82 defeat to Spartak Moscow Region, Douglas finished with 21 points in her debut. She hit 3 of 4 3-point attempts. In an 80-76 loss to Energy Ivanovo, Douglas had eight points with a pair of 3s. A final regular season game is scheduled for Friday, April 5, prior to the Russian League tournament.
January 11,2013: Douglas underwent surgery to her ankle during the Christmas break, removing bone chips and repairing a tendon. She will undergo rehab for a 6-to-8 week period before resuming any basketball activity. A full recovery is expected prior to the 2013 WNBA season.
December 7, 2012: Katie Douglas has still not joined her team. Wisla Can-Pak has an overall record of 9-2 in the Polish League and has won three straight EuroCup games to bring its record to 3-3. The latest win for the Wisla Can-Pak came against Tarsus Bld from Turkey. Wisla Can-Pak was able to secure the 74-73 win with a 27 points, 16 rebound performance from Tina Charles. The win moved the defending Polish champion team to third place in Group A of EuroCup play.
November 30, 2012: Katie Douglas is playing for Wisla Can-Pak in Poland, but has yet to play a game due to the ankle injury she sustained during the Eastern Conference Finals against the Connecticut Sun on Oct. 11.
Wisla Can-Pak plays in both the Polish League and EuroLeague.
The team is coming off of its second EuroLeague win in a row, with a 66-62 win over Rivas Ecopolis on Wednesday. Wisla Can-Pak is the defending Polish Cup Champion, with Fever star Erin Phillips headlining last year’s Wisla roster. So far this season, the team is 9-1 in Polish League action, led by WNBA standouts Tina Charles and Alana Beard.
November 16, 2012: Katie Douglas left this week to join her team Wisla Can-Pak in Krakow, Poland. She has not played for the team yet this season.
