Fever Re-Signs Winters to Multi-Year Contract
Through three seasons, Winters has guided the Fever to a 57-45 (.559) record including consecutive trips to the WNBA Playoffs. The Fever has been the WNBA’s top defensive club the past two seasons while posting identical 21-13 records, the best in franchise history. Indiana advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2005, and lost in the opening round of the playoffs in 2006.
With the return of assistant coaches Lin Dunn and Julie Plank, Indiana’s coaching staff remains intact for a fourth straight season. The Fever joins the Connecticut Sun with the longest continuity among coaching staffs in the WNBA.
Dunn returns for her fourth season with the Fever. Plank will be on the Indiana sideline for her eighth consecutive summer, having been on the Fever staff since its inaugural season in 2000. The Sun’s coaching staff of Mike Thibault, Scott Hawk and Bernadette Mattox will begin its fifth season together in 2007.
