WNBA President to Speak in Indy
"The annual holiday event celebrates the success of women business owners and recognizes organizations that have fostered and supported their growth and achievement," stated Cassandra Stockamp, president of NAWBO Indianapolis. "We're thrilled to have the participation of the Indiana Fever and to welcome Donna Orender to the Circle City."
Orender was an All-American basketball player at Queens College of New York and played professionally for the New York Stars, New Jersey Gems and Chicago Hustle of the Women's Basketball League (WBL). Orender previously served as a Senior Vice President of the PGA TOUR, and is beginning her third year as head of the WNBA. The WNBA, which just completed its 10th season, is the longest-running women’s pro sports league in the United States.
Honored guests at the event include: The Honorable Bart Peterson, Indianapolis Mayor; Jo Ann Gora, President, Ball State University; Kelly Krauskopf, General Manager and Chief Operating Officer of the Indiana Fever; and Tamika Catchings, forward for the Indiana Fever. Catchings, an Olympic gold medalist, a four-time WNBA All-Star and a member of the WNBA All-Decade Team, is the only player in WNBA history to ever rank in the league's top 10 in scoring, rebounding, assists, steals and blocked shots in the same season – a feat which she has done twice. Catchings is also the president of the WNBA Players' Association.
Tickets are $55 for members (prepaid) and $65 for non-members (prepaid). Reservations are required. Corporate tables (seating 10 people) are available for $500. Register and pay online at www.nawboindy.org OR call 317-466-2768. The event planner for the luncheon is Event Solutions, LLC.
