Miller Leads Clinching Win in WKBL
The Woori Bank Hansae won the regular season of the Women’s Korea Basketball League as they rallied to beat the Shinhan S-Birds 63-61 on Wednesday in Ansan, Kyonggi Province. Indiana Fever guard Kelly Miller scored 21 points with five rebounds in the victory for Woori Bank, and Kim Young-ok had 14 points and five assists.
The Hansae are 13-5 in the WKBL regular season, securing the league's top finish regardless of results of their remaining two games. The top four teams in the six-team league will advance to the playoffs in March.
Woori brought in Miller and national team players Kim Young-ok and Kim Kwe-ryong during the offseason, and the effort paid off as they won the league for the first time since the 2003 winter season - when the Hansae were led by Miller's WNBA teammate Tamika Catchings.
