Fever Rallies Despite Rain
Despite the stormy skies surrounding Indianapolis on Tuesday, the Indiana Fever held its annual Rally on the Circle with enthusiastic fans still joining the team's staff and players inside the lobby of Emmis Communications. Players were on hand to meet fans and sign autographs. Fans also won prizes, including Fever key chains and tickets to Fever games. Free pizza was provided and fans were entertained by a jump rope performance by the local youth group of jumpers called "Funky Feet."
The highlight of the event was a visit from Brian Madison, a representative of Indianapolis Mayor Bart Peterson's office, to read a proclamation from the Mayor declaring the week of May 19-25 to be WNBA Kids Health and Fitness Week. The proclamation was presented to Freddy Fever and WNBA All-Star Tamika Catchings. Mayor Peterson will be at Conseco Fieldhouse Tuesday night when the Fever hosts the Phoenix Mercury. The mayor will be honored at halftime and will re-read the proclamation, joining in the Fever's efforts to emphasize good health and physical fitness for young people in the community.
The Rally on the Circle is held every year before the teamís first home game. The Fever tips off the season on Sunday (6:00 p.m.) against the Charlotte Sting.
