Fever Inks Free Agents

INDIANAPOLIS � Indiana Fever Chief Operating Officer and General Manager Kelly Krauskopf has announced the signing of Nikita Bell and Lenae Williams to a pair of free agent contracts. Per club policy, contract terms were not disclosed.

Bell is regarded as a defensive standout, who was drafted in the second round by Detroit last season. She was waived prior to the regular season in 2005, and has played in Israel (Elizur Belisima Holon) this winter, where she leads her league with 2.9 steals per game. The 6-0 forward was the 2005 Defensive Player of the Year in the Atlantic Coast Conference, where she played at North Carolina under assistant coach and Fever free agent Charlotte Smith. She averaged 10.6 points and 5.6 rebounds during her senior year with the Tar Heels.

A Chicago native and a 5-11 forward from DePaul, Williams was a second-round pick by Detroit in the 2002 WNBA Draft. She has had brief stints with the Shock, Sting and Mercury, with her only regular season action coming with the Shock in 2002 when she appeared in 27 games. She averaged 2.7 points in her rookie campaign, including a career-high eight points at Conseco Fieldhouse on June 1, 2002. Williams is currently playing in Greece (Kastoria CAC) where she leads all EuroCup scorers with 23.1 points per game.

The WNBA Draft takes place Wednesday, April 5, from Boston, Mass., one day after the conclusion of the NCAA Women�s Final Four. The Fever possesses four picks in the upcoming three-round draft � No. 9 (via trade from New York), No. 26, No. 38 (via trade from Houston) and No. 40.

The Fever opens training camp on Sunday, April 23, and begins the 2006 schedule when it hosts the Detroit Shock on Saturday, May 20 (7:00 p.m.). For season ticket information, call (317) 917-2500.
