Coach Dunn’s Mad March Analysis
Hello FEVER Fans!
I’m checking in just as March Madness kicks off! ... I LOVE this time of the year! ... I’m watching the first round of the men as I type this letter … Basketball Heaven!
After watching in person, or on TV, all of the women's SEC, ACC, Big East, Big XII and Pac 10 Tournaments, the number one question is … “can anyone beat UCONN?”
My guess is only UConn can beat UConn. They would have to have an off-night shooting, and one of their Big 3 – Renee Montgomery, Tina Charles or Maya Moore -- twists an ankle. Other than that, I don’t see it happening; Geno will NOT let them relax or grow over confident. Will the perfect-season pressure bother them?.NADA! They are too mentally tough and too poised.
I also had a chance to watch all the top mid-majors over the weekend and some of the other DI teams who have had great years -- Liberty, Ball State, South Dakota State, Utah, San Diego State, Vermont, Marist, Evansville, Xavier, Charlotte, Western Carolina and Prairie View (coached by former Comets superstar Cynthia Cooper!).
The top teams better not overlook these teams - they play hard and they play together!
Since my last check-in we signed a terrific addition to our team -- Yolanda Griffith. She brings tremendous leadership, toughness and experience to our inside game. I am sure that Ebony, Tammy and Khadijah will benefit from her presence on our team!
As we continue into the NCAA playoffs, here are my top 19 WNBA prospects (in alphabetical order). I’m giving you 19 to let you fans know we will get 2 of these players with the 6th and 19th picks! While you are watching the tournament, keep an eye on these players!
