Lin Dunn
“Any time you score 103 points, you are happy. We did a pretty good job against the best scoring team in the league. This was great way to end a season. We got great help off the bench. Our intensions were to get the ball in the paint. I wish we could bottle the momentum from the past two games and carry it into Friday’s. We played to win today and to thank our fans.”

Tammy Sutton-Brown
In General:
“I think we played well tonight. Phoenix is a great offensive team. I think we were very efficient on offense today. This was a major win leading into the playoffs.”

INDIANAPOLIS -- Tammy Sutton-Brown scored a career-high 26 points and the Indiana Fever set a franchise scoring record in a 103-89 win over the Phoenix Mercury in the regular-season finale for both teams on Sunday.

Indiana's previous record came in a 102-96 triple-overtime loss to New York on June 26.

Katie Douglas scored 24 points, Ebony Hoffman added 20 with a career-high four 3-pointers, and Tamika Catchings had 18 points and nine rebounds for the Fever.

Cappie Pondexter scored 23 points and Diana Taurasi added 19 for the Mercury (16-18).

The Fever (17-17) will host Detroit on Friday in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. Phoenix, the defending league champion, missed the postseason.

The Fever has gone 21-13 in the regular season in each of the past three years, the only three winning seasons in franchise history.

Indiana led 57-40 at halftime. The Fever set a franchise record for most points in a first half, and it was the second-highest point total for a half in team history.

The Fever continued to roll in the second half. Bernadette Ngoyisa's turnaround jumper with a minute to go put the Fever over 100 points for the first time in team history.

Indiana shot 50 percent from the field and outscored the Mercury 30-13 at the free-throw line.

Indiana won three of its final four games this season to even its record.

  • Indiana's 103 points are a franchise record. Its 57 points in the first half are the most ever scored by any WNBA team (Fever or an Opponent) in a half at Conseco Fieldhouse.
  • The Fever had three players (Hoffman, Douglas and Sutton-Brown) score 20+ points for the second time in its history, and the second time in its last seven games.
  • Ebony Hoffman's 20 points featured a career-high four 3-pt FG. She has scored 20+ points three times in her career, but tonight was her first 20-point game since hitting for a career-high 26 in triple overtime at New York, 6/26.
  • Tammy Sutton-Brown's 26 points are her most ever in the WNBA and tied the most by any Fever player this season. She is the fourth Indiana player to reach that mark in 2008.
  • Having hit 4-4 from 3-pt range today, Hoffman has shot 26-57 (.456) for the season. Had she met the league minimums, that would rank second best in the WNBA and led the Eastern Conference.
  • Having shot 32-64 from the floor today, the Fever shot 50 percent or better from the floor for the first time in 2008.
  • The Fever's 30 free throws made and 36 attempts are a season-high.
  • With her two blocks today, Tamika Catchings has rejected 200 shots in her career and she is the 15th player in league history to reach this plateau.
  • Including its sweep of the 2008 season series, the Fever has won 10 of its last 13 games with Phoenix and it has won six of eight games, all-time, between the two teams at Conseco Fieldhouse.
  • With a final regular season record of 17-17, the Fever has finished with at least a .500 record for the fourth year in a row, and the fifth time in franchise's nine seasons.
  • Tamika Catchings was 10-10 from the foul line today and that is the fourth time (all by Catchings) in franchise history that a player has made at least 10 free throws without a miss.
  • The Fever had assists on 20 of its 32 field goals today and it has had 20 or more in three of the last four games. Overall, Indiana has had 20+ assists six times in 2008.
  • With her four offensive rebounds today, Ebony Hoffman has 94 on the season. That is the second most for one player in a single season in Fever history. Natalie Williams had 109 offensive rebounds in 2003.
