Indiana's only double-figure scorer netted 14 points on 4-of-14 shooting, including two 3-pointers. White added five rebounds, two steals and an assist..
Hoffman sparked the Fever bench and led Indiana with eight rebounds, helping the Fever to outrebound the Monarchs, 37-31. She added three points and a block.
On Sacramento's defense:
"They made it difficult for us to get the ball inside and start our offense. The first look is always inside, but they took that away and contested every shot. By the time we looked to our second and third options, then we were already looking at the shot clock. We couldnít knock down some open shots when we had them, and that made it that much tougher to have to play from behind."
"You have to give credit to Sacramento. Theyíre a tough defensive team. They went to the Finals last year. I thought we rebounded the ball very well and played hard overall, but they were a better team than we were."
On playing without Tamika Catchings:
"Part of the difficulty right now is we havenít had much opportunity for any real practice time since the injury. It didnít happen at a good time, but hey, we just have to play and we canít use that as an excuse. Letís face it, she leads us in points, rebounds, assists, steals and sheís our best defender. Anytime you lose a player of that caliber, it requires some significant adjustments. Weíre trying to make those adjustments, but we have to do it as we go."

SACRAMENTO (AP) -- Rebekkah Brunson scored 17 points and Sacramento beat Indiana 60-50 Thursday to gain ground on San Antonio in the Western Conference.
Kristin Haynie, a reserve, had 10 points for the Monarchs (14-9), who moved within 1 1/2 games of the first-place Silver Stars.
Tan White finished with 14 points for Indiana (16-8), which has lost four straight.
Fever star Tamika Catchings went down with a foot injury in an 89-80 loss to Detroit on July 20 and the Fever have been in a rut since. Catchings leads the team in scoring, rebounding, assists, steals and blocks per game.
Sacramento, too, was missing an All-Star forward, after DeMya Walker tore her patellar tendon in the fifth game of the season. And her replacement, Brunson (named to this year's All-Star team), is battling a calf injury and has been well below 100 percent.
The teams combined to shoot just 28 percent in the first quarter and only 33 percent for the game. The Monarchs made 19 of 23 free throws, and the Fever were just 7-for-9.
The Monarchs held the Fever scoreless for 4:51 in the third period, and though they only scored nine points of their own in that span, it was enough to turn a tight 34-29 lead into a comfortable 43-29 margin. Indiana cut the lead to six late in the fourth quarter, but could get no closer.
