UNCASVILLE, Conn., June 29 (AP) -- Katie Douglas scored 14 of her 22 points in the fourth quarter to help the Connecticut Sun beat the Indiana Fever 72-67 Friday night.
Lindsay Whalen added 14 points and seven assists and Margo Dydek had eight points and 13 rebounds. Connecticut (6-10) snapped a three-game losing streak.
Tamika Whitmore led Indiana (10-4) with 13 points and Tamika Catchings had eight points and 11 rebounds.
The teams traded leads in the fourth quarter until Douglas hit two free throws with 5.5 seconds remaining to put Connecticut up by five. The Sun made 14 of 16 free throws in the final period.
Connecticut missed its first 11 field goal attempts, allowing Indiana to jump out to a 17-2 lead. After finally making one nearly 7 minutes into the game, the Sun perked up and even put together a run of their own.
The Sun outscored Indiana 15-2 during one stretch in the second quarter and tied it at 27. In the third quarter, Connecticut led by eight at one point, but the Fever stayed close the rest of the way.
