KRAKOW, Poland - Anna DeForge is the Polish champion again! Wisla won 68:54 over Lotos in Game 7. Wisla has repeated as the Polish champ!
DeForge scored 17 points and had six rebounds, two assists and two steals. Tan White scored 13 points, four assists and four rebounds, but she fouled five times and was disqualified before the game's end.
Wisla was a team. Every player was important. After the first quarter, Wisla led 23:13. It was shock for Lotos, which had even more problems. After three minutes, Ruth Riley had three fouls and Lotos wasn't the same.
About 2,500 fans supported Wisla and put some pressure on Lotos. Neither Nykesha Sales or White shot effectively.
Wisla clinched the victory when DeForge hit a 3-pointer in fourth quarter, and some seconds later she stole the ball and assisted a fast break to Chamique Holdsclaw. It was clear who would be the champion. Wisla led and Lotos was helpless.
The MVP of the season was chosen as Dominique Canty, who will play with the WNBA's Chicago Sky this summer. The MVP of Finals was Chamique Holdsclaw, and the best Polish player was Lotos center Ewelina Kobryn.
It was great season! The finals games were on the level of WNBA. Although Anna DeForge wasn't chosen the MVP, I think she was the most important player for Wisla, because she always fought and battled, and motivated her other players. Tan White played well, but she’s tired and will need a short break to play effectively in the WNBA.
