Fever Obtains Strother in Trade with Mercury
Strother is a 6-3, second-year swing forward who provides the Fever with an additional shooting threat. She played just eight games during her rookie campaign with the Mercury. She was the 15th overall pick in the 2006 WNBA Draft by Houston, and was part of a draft-day trade that sent her to Phoenix. She averaged 12.9 points per game during a four-year college career that included a pair of national championships at Connecticut.
Scott, 30, has competed in eight WNBA seasons since 1998, and averages 4.9 points and 1.3 rebounds for her career. She played with Indiana during the 2001 and 2002 seasons, before being acquired again prior to the 2006 campaign. Counting stints in Utah, Detroit, Charlotte and Sacramento, she will join her sixth WNBA franchise.
Following the 2007 WNBA Draft on April 4, training camps open April 22. The Fever hosts a preseason opener on May 5 against the Seattle Storm (6:00 p.m.), and welcomes 2006 Rookie of the Year Seimone Augustus and the Minnesota Lynx to open the regular season, May 19 (7:00 p.m.).
