Hoffman Salutes Local Preps
Fever forward Ebony Hoffman took time recently to support Indiana girls high school basketball programs as they wind down their regular season before heading into sectional play. Three days after attending the finals of the Madison County Girls Basketball Tournament, she took part in an all-county banquet in Hendricks County.
On Sunday, Feb. 6, Hoffman was the featured speaker at the 17th Annual Hendricks County Girls Basketball Awards Banquet held at Henricks Regional Health in Danville, Indiana. The annual all-county recognition event is the only one of its kind in the state, according to the state activities association. The all-county team was announced, and athletes were recognized for their accomplishments over the season and their careers.
Hoffman shared a moving personal story and talked to the over 80 athletes from the county teams about decisions, and the value of making the right choices in their lives. She also was a part of team photographs and signed autographs. Hoffman presented an autographed basketball, signed by the entire 2004 Fever team, that was awarded to a raffle winner. Her appearance marked the second consecutive year that the Fever has been involved with the Hendricks County awards banquet. Niele Ivey spoke at the banquet in 2004.
On Feb. 2, Hoffman visited the championship game of the Madison County Girls Basketball Tournament at Pendleton Heights High School. She signed autographs at halftime and throughout the third quarter, and then watched with fans as the host school, Pendleton Heights, captured the title for the second straight year.
