Transition Game: 10-Year Veterans Through the Years
As the WNBA enters its tenth season, only seven players remain
from the original season back in 1997. That is pretty amazing when you consider
that 539 women have played in at least one game over that span. So what do we
know about these remarkable women? Well, Sheryl Swoopes was one of two players
to sign with the WNBA on October 23, 1996, Tina Thompson was the first player
to be drafted in 1997 and Lisa Leslie was the first All-Star Game MVP back in
1999. Leslie is also the all-time leader in points and rebounds. They have combined
24 All-Star appearances and 14 WNBA title. Yet, they have grown up both on and
off the court over the past decade. Click on each to play the transition game.
Leslie, Mabika, Swoopes
and Thompson have spent their entire careers with one team. Dixon and Johnson
will join only their second team this upcoming season and Palmer joins her sixth
in ten years.
