While taking part in the weekend's festivities, Langhorne granted a few minutes of her time to discuss the Washington Mystics, her season and what to expect in the second half.
WNBA.com: First half round-up. What’s it been like so far?
Langhorne: It’s been great. I think we’ve been playing really well and gelling as a team. We’ve been playing really good defense and that’s been winning us games.
WNBA.com: When Alana [Beard] was injured earlier in the season, Coach Plank said you guys would have to win games by committee. Is that the case?
Langhorne: Yeah. I think when Alana went down we were all just – I mean, she’s a great player and we all really miss her – but we knew that we had to pull together as a team and everyone had to bring just a little more as individuals. And then we brought in someone like Katie Smith who’s won, so we’re just doing a good job.
WNBA.com: You just reached a recent career-high in points too; 31 against the Mercury two weeks ago. Player of the Month, Player of the Week. You’re really turning some heads this season.
It’s just been really exciting. I can’t believe all of this happened this season. Just from my struggles my rookie year and how things have just continued to get better, but I just want to keep working and getting better and help our team with games.
WNBA.com: At this point, the halfway point of the season, you guys are winning, so it would appear you at least have that formula down. But what’s the game plan for the rest of the season?
Langhorne: We still need to fine tune things. We still have a lot to work on, offensively and defensively. If we keep getting better and keep working as a team, we’ll be all right.
