Minnesota Lynx point guard Teresa Edwards
is leading all rookies in assists, averaging 4.6 per game.
Edwards is not, however, your typical WNBA rookie.
The 39-year-old Edwards is the only American basketball player (male
or female) to compete in five Olympics, and she has four gold medals to show for it.
Edwards has stepped into the Lynx lineup along with rookie coach
Suzie McConnell Serio and has played a key role in Minnesota's quest for the franchise's first-ever playoff appearance.
Along with the assists, Edwards is averaging 5.5 points and 2.9 rebounds per game as a starter. She has contributed eight assists in a game three times, and she scored a career high of 15 points to help the Lynx defeat the Silver Stars on July 16.
