The Atlanta Dream to Participate in Area National Girls and Women in Sports Day Events

ATLANTA, Jan. 31, 2008 – On February 6, the Atlanta Dream will join thousands of sports educators, coaches, athletic directors, recreation directors, association members, sponsors, students and parents nationally to support for the 22nd Annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD).

The Atlanta Dream, the city’s new WNBA team, will participate in activities throughout the metro area designed to empower and inspire female athletes the week of February 2 through 9.

“Our success will be measured in part by the impact the Dream has on the community and in the lives of the young people in Atlanta,” said General Manager and Head Coach Marynell Meadors. “We are excited to be a part this annual celebration and are looking forward to working with Atlanta’s young basketball players.”

Meadors will be the guest speaker at the Georgia Women’s Intersport Network (GWIN) awards dinner on Wednesday, February 6. Team Ambassador Carla McGhee and former WNBA player Rushia Brown will conduct basketball drills, hold clinics and give motivational speeches throughout the week.
