Networks to televise 19 games in 2011 regular season

ATLANTA, May 27, 2011— The Atlanta Dream has renewed its television partnership with FOX Sports South and SportSouth for the 2011 WNBA season. All Dream home games (with exception of June 9 nationally televised game) and three road games will be televised on FOX Sports South and SportSouth.

“We are excited about continuing our broadcast partnership with FOX Sports South and SportSouth to provide coverage of our games across the Southeast,” said Dream President & COO Toby Wyman. “For the second season, our fans will be able to watch a record number of Atlanta Dream games in high-definition on the premier regional sports network.”

The telecast schedule begins with the Dream’s home opener against the New York Liberty on Sunday, June 5 at 3 p.m. ET on SportSouth. Other key televised matchups include visits by WNBA stars Maya Moore (June 19 vs. Minnesota), Diana Taurasi (June 24 vs., Phoenix) and Candace Parker (July 28 vs. Los Angeles), and a WNBA Finals re-match against the Seattle Storm on August 7.

New this year, coverage on SportSouth will also include key road matchups. Three road matchups will air on the network: August 16 at Los Angeles, August 27 at Indiana and September 11 at Indiana.

Bob Rathbun and LaChina Robinson will return for their second season together as the broadcast team for all Atlanta Dream games on FOX Sports South and SportSouth. Rathbun has been the FOX Sports South and SportSouth play-by-play announcer for the Atlanta Hawks for the past 15 seasons. Robinson, who was a four-year starter at Wake Forest University, also serves as an analyst for women’s basketball on FOX Sports South.

The Atlanta Dream is the defending Women’s National Basketball Association’s (WNBA) Eastern Conference Champion. The team tips off the 2011 season at home on June 5 against the New York Liberty at Philips Arena. The Dream enters its fourth season this summer as part of the WNBA, the world’s longest-running women’s professional sports league.
