The Dream are coming off another tough loss as they hung with the New York Liberty on Friday night, only to see a late rally slip away in an 82-71 loss. Betty Lennox led the way for the Dream, recording game-highs in points (28) and rebounds (7). Erika De Souza and Katie Feenstra were the only other Dream players to reach double figures, adding 10 apiece. The Liberty used an 11-0 run midway through the fourth quarter to seal the win and their ninth playoff berth in franchise history.

The Fever moved closer to clinching a playoff spot in the East on Friday, but not in the fashion they hoped to. Despite a 90-68 loss to the Detroit Shock, Indiana moved half a game closer to clinching their fourth consecutive playoff berth. Tamika Catchings led Indiana with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Plenette Pierson led four Shock players in double figures with a team-high 20 points.

The Dream will have to contain Catchings to win their final home game. Catchings is shooting 56% from the field and averaging 20.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, four assists and three steals per game against the Dream this season. On the other side, Betty Lennox has had the hot hand against the Fever, averaging 18.7 points and 3.7 rebounds in three games against Indiana. In the most recent matchup between the two teams, Lennox scored 27 points on 10-15 shooting from the field.

Indiana leads the series with the Dream 2-1, coasting to an 87-72 victory in the most recent matchup on August 30, 2008. In that game, three Fever players scored 20+ points for the first time in franchise history, led by Tamika Catchings with a team-high 23 pitns. Catchings finished the game 7-13 from the field and 4-6 from three. Katie Douglas, the Fever’s leading scorer, and center Tammy Sutton-Brown each scored 21.

Three Dream players will face their former team in tonight’s game. Alison Bales, Ann Strother and Kasha Terry all played for the Fever before joining the Dream this season. Bales was acquired by the Dream in a July 4 trade for forward Kristen Mann.
