Houston Comets Sign Guard Tamecka Dixon, Waive Tamara Moore and Tari Phillips

(HOUSTON � July 2, 2007) � The Houston Comets have signed free agent guard Tamecka Dixon and waived guard Tamara Moore and forward/center Tari Phillips. Per team policy, terms of Dixon's agreement were not disclosed.

�I'm excited to be back with the team and to be able to play for Coach Thompson,� said Dixon. �I feel as if I'm starting anew. I've just been working out, training and hoping for the opportunity to contribute my talent and effort.�

Dixon, a 5'9� guard, originally signed with the Houston Comets on February 28, 2006 and during the 2006 season made 14 starts with averages of 7.0 points per game, 2.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists. She was waived earlier this year prior to Coach Karleen Thompson joining the franchise as head coach and general manager. Dixon's career averages are 10.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists, since going 14th overall to the Los Angeles Sparks in the 1997 WNBA Draft.

Moore signed with the team on May 24, 2007 and in 15 games averaged 3.9 points, 3.0 assists and 19.3 minutes. Phillips, an 8-year WNBA veteran, joined the Comets on February 15, 2005 from the New York Liberty as an unrestricted free agent. She re-signed with the Comets on March 22, 2006. During the 2007 season, Phillips totaled 10 points and 5.0 rebounds in 35 minutes of play.

Following an 81-76 win over Seattle on June 28, the Houston Comets face the Storm again on Friday, July 6 at 7:30 p.m. in Toyota Center. Friday nights are Family Night with the Houston Comets.
