At the 2002 WNBA All-Star Game, took the questions that you the fans sent in, and got the answers from Sacramento Monarchs All-Star Ticha Penicheiro. See what Ticha had to say about this year's game, her shoulder injury and even playing in the Azores Islands.

You are the most exciting player in the WNBA!!! I always look forward to watching you play, especially with your no-look passes! Who do you look forward to playing with at the All-star game?

Penicheiro: Wow, everybody! I mean there are so many great players here. It never gets old. This is my fourth All-Star game, and I always look forward to playing with everybody like Sheryl, Tina and Lisa.

I'm in the Air Force stationed in the Azores. In your early playing days did you ever play on any of the islands? Also the international game can sometimes be a physical game, how did develop such a deft touch?

Penicheiro: I have played in the Azores when I was playing in Portugal. There were two teams in the league that were on the Azores Islands. I get my soft touch from lots of practice, I guess. I have been playing since I was six years old, so I have had plenty of practice.

If you could take any player from the WNBA All-Star game back to Sacramento with you, who would it be?

Penicheiro: Hmm...probably Chamique Holdsclaw.

Hey Ticha, I am so glad to see you going to the All-Star game. What advice would you have for a 15- year old girl who wants to play in the WNBA one day? Thanks and good luck. Bye.
Jennifer, DC

Penicheiro: Well, the WNBA is here. When I was 15 years old there was no league for me to look up to. But now the WNBA is here and it's here to stay. Fans now have plenty of role models. 15 year olds can now see their dreams becoming reality. I would say to the best advice is to work hard and have fun. Having fun is what it is all about. Believe in your dreams!

How does it feel to be an All-Star considering that you have had a shoulder injury this year?

Penicheiro: It means a lot. It proves the fans appreciate what I have done in the past. They thought there was a possibility that I might be able to play and they gave me a chance. I want to really thank the fans. There are so many great WNBA players and to be picked in the starting lineup is wonderful. I really have to thank the fans. I am the only Monarchs player, so I hope I can make my team and franchise proud.

I just want to say I am a big fan and I love to watch you play. I know you are an R&B music fan so I want to know who you are listening to now?

Penicheiro: I am definitely a fan of hip-hop and R&B. My favorites are Usher, Brandy, Ashanti, Ja Rule and Nelly. I listen to a lot of artists, but it really just depends on my mood.

I would like to know do you have any pre-game rituals?

Penicheiro: I pray and I try to visualize the game. I also like to take a nap, eat pasta and go over the scouting report. But that is more of my routine, not any ritual.

Who gives you a run for your money on defense!
Mary B.

Penicheiro: I think Debbie Black or Sheryl Swoopes. Sheryl Swoopes is a great defender at the guard and forward position. Tina Thompson is also a great defender in the post. It's tough to pick just one person, but Debbie Black would be my choice because she hustles so much. She is all over the court for 40 minutes.
