In his first year as WNBA Supervisor of Officials, Don Rutledge is responsible for recruiting, training and supervising officials. He also assists the league with rules development.

Rutledge brings almost 30 years of experience and numerous accolades as a basketball official. He replaced Dee Kantner who became a fulltime NBA official during the 1997-98 season.

A student of game, Rutledge has played, coached and officiated at the Division I level. He has officiated games in six major conferences and 18 consecutive NCAA men's postseason tournaments, including two Final Four championship games. Rutledge was the Naismith Men's Basketball Official of the Year in 1991.

He will continue to serve as a collegiate official during the winter.

Rutledge holds a bachelor's degree in physical education and a master's degree in physical education and health from the University of Florida inGainesville. He resides in Orlando, and has one son, Todd.
