Karin Buchholz, Director, Fan Development

As Director of Fan Development for the WNBA, Karin Buchholz is responsible for helping identify and develop new fan outreach programs for implementation at the league and team levels, as well as expanding existing fan programs. She is also responsible for fostering relationships with grassroots organizations for purposes of enhancing the league's fan growth. Buchholz joined the WNBA in April 2001.

Prior to the WNBA, Buchholz spent five years with the Unites States Olympic Committee (USOC) in Colorado Springs, Colo., where she served in a number of key capacities, including Director of Foreign and Cultural Affairs and Director of Athlete Development.

In the early 1990s, Buchholz worked for the US Tennis Association, where she led a national industry initiative to grow the sport. She also served as the Executive Director and head tennis professional for the Harlem Junior Tennis Program. Under her direction, the program was honored as one of President Bush's 1000 Daily Points of Light.

Originally from Brooklyn, N.Y., Buchholz was a scholarship tennis player at the University of Arizona, where she graduated magna cum laude with a degree in finance. She subsequently spent three years on the Women's Tennis Association professional tour, where she achieved a world ranking in singles and doubles.
