for i-design Contest

Fan’s Winning Design to be Worn on Court by WNBA Stars during All-Star Game

NEW YORK, July 21, 2009 - The Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) and adidas today announced the winner of the adidas WNBA i-design contest. For the second consecutive year, adidas gave fans the opportunity to bring their “A game” to the drawing boards. Fans were able to log onto WNBA.com and submit designs that would ultimately be used to create a shooting shirt and worn on court by their favorite stars at the 2009 WNBA All-Star Game in Connecticut.

Dan Doehler’s star-studded logo-woman with swirls design was selected and will be worn during the 2009 WNBA All-Star Game. An avid basketball fan from Lochbuie, Colo., Dan grew up playing the game and has coached three women’s teams for the past 7 years. As a graphic designer, he combined his two passions of art and basketball as inspiration to help him create the winning design. Keeping with the sprit of the WNBA, Dan chose red, white and blue as the primary colors and used the star to symbolize the All-Star game.

As the grand prize winner, Doehler will receive a trip for two to the WNBA All-Star Game in Connecticut. The shirts with the winning design will be created and manufactured by adidas, the Official Outfitter of the WNBA. It will be available for purchase at the Mohegan Sun Arena, the NBA Store on 5th Avenue in New York and at wnbastore.com, while supplies last.

“The WNBA i-design program has proven to be a fun and exciting way to engage our fans and give them an opportunity to express their fandom and why they love the WNBA”, said WNBA President Donna Orender. “The WNBA All-Star Game is a perfect place to showcase Dan’s winning design and celebrate all of our All-Star players and fans.”

Fans were able to go to WNBA.com and rate and comment on each submitted design. Winning design submissions were then determined by a panel of WNBA and adidas representatives. The second and third place winners will receive a special adidas prize pack. To see the winner’s design or for more information, please visit www.wnba.com/idesign.
