
NEW YORK, July 5, 2007 – The 2007 WNBA All-Star Game will take place at Verizon Center in Washington, DC, on Sunday, July 15, capping off a week-long series of special community events taking place in and around Washington, DC. In honor of the League’s commitment to the community, Mayor Adrian Fenty will proclaim the week of July 9, “WNBA All-Star Week” in the nation’s capital. The following is a listing of events taking place prior to the WNBA All-Star Game:
Tuesday, July 10
Washington, DC Mayoral Proclamation
Mayor Adrian Fenty will proclaim the tip off of 2007 WNBA All-Star week in Washington,
DC with a special presentation during halftime of the Washington Mystics vs.
Minnesota Lynx game at Verizon Center.

Thursday, July 12
WNBA All-Star Basketball Clinic presented by Discover Card®
WNBA players and legends will host an All-Star basketball clinic for a group
of youngsters at the Mary & Daniel Loughran Clubhouse, tipping off a series
of community events taking place in the Washington, DC area. Over 200 participants
will have an opportunity to interact with the players and learn strength, endurance
and flexibility techniques that offer them ways to improve their body, mind
and athletic performance. As a special surprise, the players will invite all
of the children to attend the WNBA All-Star game as their guests, with tickets
courtesy of Discover Card®.

Walter Reed Hospital Visit
WNBA All-Stars will visit with patients at the Walter Reed Hospital Visit and
distribute gifts.

Friday, July 13
WNBA & Toyota All-Star Legacy Project
The WNBA will unveil a brand new WNBA Cares Reading & Learning center at
the Robert V. Murray Boys & Girls Club. The renovation project includes
extensive refurbishment of the facility and the donation of books, furniture,
TV's, DVD players, computers and additional reading materials. This project
is sponsored by WNBA Cares and Toyota. WNBA All-Stars, basketball legends, executives
and local personalities will be on-hand to unveil the new center that will bring
a lasting hope to hundreds of children in the local area.

All-Star Salute: Inspiring Women presented by Meridian
The second annual All-Star Salute: Inspiring Women presented by Meridian gathers
more than 300 prominent faces from the political, business, entertainment and
sports worlds to celebrate inspirational women in all walks of life. WNBA President
Donna Orender will present the 2007 WNBA Inspiration Award to this year’s
recipient, who is a role model to all who aspire to make a difference at work,
at home and in the communities in which they live. The honoree and keynote speaker
will be announced at a later date.

WNBA BE Tour

The League’s traveling mobile fitness expo and a leading component of the
WNBA’s national Be Smart-Be Fit-Be Yourself initiative, the WNBA BE Tour
brings the fun and excitement of the WNBA directly to its fans, giving them
the opportunity to “BE” a WNBA star by participating in basketball
activities; trying on adidas uniforms; sampling Diet Ocean Spray® Juice
Drinks and snacks prepared with Craisins® Sweetened Dried Cranberries, and
showcasing their rapping skills at the CDC Choose Respect booth where they can
record a “Rap for Respect” song. WNBA All-Stars, legends and female
athletes from various sports will be onsite to meet and greet fans throughout
the day.
